Chris Matthews, a veteran DC hardcore guitarist and co-founder of the legendary Shudder to Think, has stepped up to the mic to front a new band, Quiz Show.

Matthews and his powerful rhythm section, bassist Jesse Krakow and drummer Joe Billy, offer you Geographic , 3-songs of protest, friendship, and frustration. The title cut gives a shout out to the marxist geographer David Harvey whose career of anticapitalist research on cities and social justice has inspired critiques of urban space for the last half century. The protests of 2020 embodied the spirit of Harvey. “Sunday Morning” captures the feeling of waking up the day after, when all of us think back to what we wish we did, if only we had the courage. “Januhappy” is a break-up song that puts the way love breaks down on view.

Quiz Show began when two Shudder To Think alum discovered they were both living in Montclair New Jersey - Matthews and drummer Kevin March (Guided By Voices). The pair teamed with bassist Frank Gibbons and found themselves at the studio of producer Ray Ketchem (Guided By Voices, Luna, Versus)

Matthews discovered he enjoyed singing as much as playing guitar. With Ketchem on-board to produce, Quiz Show began releasing digital singles to a growing number of listeners.

In 2021 Quiz Show has added another former member of Shudder To Think when Jesse Krakow replaced the departed Gibbons. Drummer Joe Billy relieved March of drumming duties.

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer

This band. Hands down my favorite Discord band. They’ve had a powerful affect on my musical growth when I was young. And they’ve stayed there locked up in good nostalgia. Timeless.
